Redditch Road and Path Cycling Club is one of the oldest in the country, founded in the early days of popular cycling in 1885. Today we are a thriving, friendly family club, welcoming riders of all ages and abilities from Redditch and the surrounding area.
Here is some of what we do:
Our members take part in all forms of cycling for sport and leisure: social, family and training club rides, track racing, time trials, circuit racing, cyclocross and roller riding, both our own and others clubs events. Some of us are keen competitors, and others enjoy gentler rides out. Some members also enjoy other forms of cycling, such as audaxes, cyclosportives and mountain bike rides, or take part in charity and challenge rides. The club organises an open time trial, a cyclocross event and a reliability trial each year, and in 2012 a town centre road race.
Our youth section, the Slipstreamers, meet for skills sessions and fun training evenings, indoors and out, either at Vaynor First School, Headless Cross or at the Abbey Stadium. We are a British Cycling Go-Ride club, and our trained coaches support and encourage youngsters of all ages and abilities to progress. Many Slipstreamers enjoy cyclocross racing in winter and track racing and local rides in summer.
Our Social Secretaries organise varied events through the year, including the very popular camping weekend. Members join forces to marshal and provide support and refreshments at local time trials and races, and to promote the club and cycling at local events. We also run a successful annual cycle jumble.
RRPCC awards many club cups and trophies at the annual dinner and awards presentation, the major social event of the year. This is a formal but friendly dinner with cross-toasting, a guest speaker and a look back over the years events.
